Exciting Updates: New Instructor & In-Person Class Schedule!

Aloha everyone,

I have some wonderful news to share! Since our Zoom classes didn't quite catch on and Laura will not be returning to Hawaii soon, I have been working on a permanent solution to keep our OCC members moving.

I am thrilled to announce that I’ve hired Alana Kaunaloa-Hart, an incredible senior fitness instructor, to lead our classes starting next Wednesday! Alana is an ACE-certified instructor, Senior Fitness Specialist, and Brain Health Trainer. I was immediately impressed by her background, and after working with her on Zoom yesterday, I feel very lucky to have her join us.

The Upcoming Schedule

Alana will permanently take over the Friday 9:30 a.m. slot to ensure long-term consistency. She will also cover our Wednesday sessions while Nalani and I are away.

May Schedule:

  • Wed, May 13: Alana

  • Fri, May 15: Alana

  • Wed, May 20: Alana

  • Fri, May 22: Alana

  • Wed, May 27: Nalani

  • Fri, May 29: Alana

June Schedule:

  • Wed, June 3: Nalani

  • Fri, June 5: Alana

  • Wed, June 10: Nalani

  • Fri, June 12: Alana

  • Wed, June 17: Jill

  • Fri, June 19: Alana

  • Wed, June 24: Jill

  • Fri, June 26: Alana

Note: All classes begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. There is a $10 per-class charge for Alana and Nalani (waived for anyone uncomfortable with the fee). I do not charge for my sessions. Our primary goal is to come together and support one another’s health and independence. Payment is secondary.

A Note of Gratitude

I want to extend my most heartfelt thanks to Miki, who so graciously stepped in when I had to return to the mainland for a family emergency, and to Laura, who taught throughout the summer.

Most of all, thanks to all of you for your patience while I worked through these logistics. I am confident this plan provides the stability we need. For more updates on classes and articles on senior health, please visit my website at gillianrowan.com.

I’ve attached a short bio for Alana below so you can get to know her better. Sending my warmest aloha to all—I can't wait to see you in June!

Warmly, Jill
